The reproduction process of French Bulldogs

Buying a French Bulldog usually comes at a considerable price. Plus, considering taking care of it, the price goes even higher. Also, there has to be kept in mind that, in order to have a healthy pet, you should definitely find a good veterinary to consult it periodically. Therefore, there are many French Bulldog owners who are considering breeding their pets in order to make some profit. On the other hand, there are many who are looking forward doing this in order to proliferate the breed. No matter the reason why the French Bulldog owners are looking forward breeding their dogs, breeding a French Bulldog might not be as easy as it sounds. Therefore, it is imperative that French Bulldog owners learn everything that is involved in breeding a French Bulldog, before the issue receives any serious consideration.

Before considering breeding your French Bulldog, you should be definitely learning how to choose and breed-worthy mates and how to select only positive traits. Even more, when planning to breed your French Bulldog, you should learn how to avoid diminishing the breed by passing on contra-indicted health problems. Furthermore, the likelihood of in-breeding related dogs is greater, since this is a breed with a smaller overall population. Lineage has to be thoroughly researched prior to mating dogs. This aspect is very important.

Practically, you will have to locate another experienced breeder to serve as mentor and guide the French Bulldogs through the whole process of reproduction. This will prove that you treat this aspect with responsibility, since the first-time French Bulldog breeder should never go through the process alone. Therefore, you should take time and search for a truly professional French Bulldog breeder to make sure that everything goes right in the reproduction process of your French Bulldog.

About the health of the French Bulldogs

For the ones looking for a more calm and manageable pet, it is well known that French Bulldogs are proven as excellent house companions. Also, there has to be kept in mind that, since they are a dog breed that has specific health and maintenance needs, French Bulldogs do require an added level of commitment on the part of owners.

Nowadays, it is considered that buying a well-bred French Bulldog that has been taken care of by a reputable breeder might just be your best bet for a healthy dog. But, even though you are buying a French Bulldog that you know it has been well taken care of, this still can not represent a hundred percent guarantee that it will not suffer from some of the signature health problems of the breed. There has to be paid attention to the fact that due to their short breathing passages and inability to regulate body temperature, all French Bulldogs are subject to heat-related distress. Plus, there is actually no French Bulldog that is not vulnerable to cold. Even more, there are some French Bulldogs for which the Von Willebrand’s Disease is practically inevitable. This disease reflects a genetic bleeding syndrome.

Even though there are many diseases from which French Bulldogs may suffer, this doesn’t mean that the French Bulldog that you are looking forward to buy will be suffering from any of them. Plus, even though there are many diseases that can harm French Bulldogs, this breed is considered to be the healthiest of the bulldog breeds. It is important as well to be considered that you have better odds of getting a dog that will have minimal health problems, if you have reliable information on each parent dog and their ancestral line, since many of the diseases that plague the French Bulldog are hereditary and/or congenital in nature.

Short poem for French Bulldogs

I am not a pig, I am not a Pug.
My ears haven’t been cropped,
My tail hasn’t been docked.
I didn’t run into a wall or get hit with a fry pan,
I do not bite,
but my owner is another matter altogether.
That noise is how I breathe—I am not
growling at your child.
I’m not so ugly I’m almost cute,
and anyone who says that is so stupid they're
almost smart.
I am a French Bulldog
and I am perfect in every way!

The importance of choosing the right dog

I love dogs and I just can’t imagine life without the companionship of a loyal, beautiful, smart dog. All my life I raised and enjoyed the company of dogs.

When I was a child I had a smart little Papillon dog named Cora, then, after Cora died we adopted Tasha, a very playful and noisy Bichon. When I grew up and moved out with my boyfriend we wanted a more imposing dog and we adopted Twix, a beautiful Boxer. This was not such a good idea, even though we loved him very much, Twix was a big dog and a little bit crazy, he needed a lot of space cause he loved running very much. When we found out that we will have a baby we had to give away Twix to someone who had a big yard, because he kept knocking us down.

After my baby was born we did a lot of research because we realized that having a dog is wonderful, but it is very important that the dog you choose to adopt fits into your house and schedule. Otherwise life can be tough for both the owner and the dog. We finally chose to adopt a very cute French bulldog, Chayenne. She is very sociable, she loves children very much, she is very affectionate and loyal, she is the perfect dog for us and I hope she’ll live one hundred years!

Celebrity pets

They are famous and they love dogs, so they have all our admiration.

1. The most famous celebrity pet is of course Tinkerbell, the cute Chihuahua of Paris Hilton. And I say very famous because the cute little Tinkerbell is always in the spot lights and he's very spoiled. He has his own wardrobe and a diamond collar.

2. Jessica Biel has a beautiful pitbull named Tina. Beautiful and courageous!

3. Jennifer Aniston and her Welsh corgi-terrier mix, Norman, often take long walks on the beach of Malibu. They even posed together for Elle magazine.

Nothing is worth more than a faithful friend.
Some would do anything for your friendship...they would even disguise themselves to be a little more like you. Love them just the way they are.

Extra-care for older dogs

Old dogs, as well as old people, need extra care and attention.
For dogs old age begins at 7 years for the big dogs, and at 10 years for the small dogs.
Dogs slow down with age, they exercise less, their hair gets grizzled, and sometimes they become grumpier. Older dogs need your understanding and compassion.
If you have a wonderful dog companion that reached the age of seven you should take it to the vet for a full examination. The vet might start a “senior care” program.
You should also change and control the food you give to your older dog. Older dogs tend to become obese and this is not at all good for their health. So control their portions and start a senior diet, with more soft food because their teeth might be more fragile.
Be very tolerant to your older dog.
Dogs are such good and loyal friends and we owe them a beautiful old age.

This can't happen again!

In 2007, a so called artist, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, thought that killing a dog is art. He took a dog, he tied it to a wall in his art gallery and let it starve to death.

This year Biennale Centroamericana di Arte decided that what Guillermo Vargas Habacuc did was indeed art and they suggested to do it again in 2008.

Murder is NOT art! Please don't let this happen again!

There is a petition that tries to prevent this outrage. If you want to make a change, if you love dogs, if you are human, please sign this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/13031953/petition-sign.html

ASPCA & Chopard

The most adorable puppy ever, isn’t it?!. . . and the necklace is quite a wow, too. This little spokes pup is sleepily announcing the 11th Annual Bergh Ball on April 17 at NYC's Plaza Hotel.
Last year's event raised over $1 million for the American Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), whose mission is to provide efficient means to prevent animal cruelty throughout the United States. Put on this year by the ASPCA, in partnership with Chopard, the dream jeweler is helping make dreams come true by not only helping put on a fabulous fund-raiser, but also creating an exclusive series of limited-edition watches and pendants with floating diamond paws ($2,180 and up). What's more, 5 percent of the sales of this line – exclusively available at Chopard’s Fifth Avenue boutique – will benefit ASPCA so check out the diamond paw watches when you read more.
